Károly Mátrai, CEO of the MVM Group
Károly Mátrai is an economist and an energy expert with more than 25 years of experience in energy trading, business management, brokering and finance. Between 2008 and 2020, he was CEO and member of the Board of Directors at KELER KSZF, the leading clearing house for capital and energy markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and also held a position in the Supervisory Board of the Association of Futures Markets (AFM). Following his departure from KELER KSZF, he joined the Swiss-based energy company, the MET Group, where he was the CFO at MET Romania Energy for two years, before taking on the role of Head of Integration at Cogen Energia Espana, also part of the MET Group.
Since January 2023, he has been CEO of the MVM Group, the second largest company group in Hungary and the tenth largest in Central Europe.

Károly Mátrai graduated from the College of Finance and Accounting with a degree in General Business. He started his career as a risk analyst in 1995 at the KELER Group, where he was also the Director of Risk Management and CFO between 2007 and 2017, and CEO of KELER KSZF Zrt. until his departure. In addition, he taught for 15 years at the Budapest Business School and at the Central European Training Centre for Brokers.
